Tinago but we found it!
The usually queasy stomach during plane rides did not make its expected appearance as our plane to the south took off. Once on cruising altitude, the sunlight against the thick and beautifully fluffy clouds made my first plane ride this year a ride that's one for the books. The hour and a half went by unnoticed - immersed in the in-flight magazine while listening to john mayer and jeremy messersmith on repeat. As we descended, I was in cloud heaven (how redundant) because of the thick clouds enveloping our plane. The sight of faraway Venus made the descent all the more majestic.
Our gracious hosts were, well, gracious and very hospitable. It's my first time in Mindanao and I'm happy to prove that whatever's being reported in the news in Manila is very far from what I experienced here.
Tinago falls is a hidden gem. It was the third time I saw waterfalls this awesome! My friends and I had the opportunity to get on a raft and experience a few minutes under the falls. The pressure of the falling water was strong enough to give you a back massage. We could not hear each other while we were under it.
Deejaying will be my next gig if I get tired of everything. It's the music and the alcohol and being around people. Playing the piano on a baby grand in front of an appreciative audience = priceless. It's rare to see a family so musically-inclined everyone, even the little kids, knows how to play the piano!
And the food! Omg the food was to die for! The kinilaw, steamed crabs, Iliganon homemade pizza, and durian shake! This first trip to Mindanao was also my first time to be hands-on with the durian. The durian shake made that all happen.
I have a feeling this trip will only mark the awesome trips I will take from this point :D
